Against The Storm is a roguelite city-builder with real depth and replayability β here's whether the PS5 version at $19.99 makes sense for you.
What you're actually getting into here
Against The Storm is a roguelite city-builder where you establish small settlements under an ever-worsening storm in a dark fantasy world. Each run has you managing three or four species β humans, beavers, lizards, harpies β each with distinct needs and resource preferences. You're not building one grand city; you're completing shorter settlement runs, unlocking permanent upgrades, and gradually pushing back against a relentless difficulty curve. It started as a PC game with a devoted following on Steam, and the core loop is genuinely compelling: tight, systemic, and surprisingly tense for a city-builder.
Who this clicks for β and one honest caveat
If you enjoy games like Slay the Spire or Hades but wish they involved supply chains and worker housing, this is your thing. The $19.99 price is fair for the amount of content here β easily 30-plus hours before the strategy stops feeling fresh. The caveat: the PS5 port works, but this game was designed around a mouse and a lot of small UI elements. Controller navigation is functional, not elegant. If you have a PC, that's still the better platform for it. But if the couch is where you game, $20 is a reasonable ask.
Current deal price: $19.99 on Amazon (price/availability can change).
